| Join us on Sunday, October 2, 2011! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Denver Komen Race for the Cure takes place on the first or second Sunday in October each year. For years our race was the largest affiliate race in the country, second only to the national race in Washington, DC. In 2005 we became the largest race in the country and kept that designation in 2006. In 2007 we were the second largest race as our numbers were just short of the race in St. Louis. In 2007, the Race chair was a Zeta! Wendy Lukazcek became a Zeta at the Zeta Omega chapter at Ferris State University. Lora Cottrell and Robin Volden are the Zeta Tau Alpha Race Representatives for the Denver race. They are members of the Survivor Committee, along with Cindy Figenbaum. Zetas staff the t-shirt and hat tent in the Survivor area, and two back-sign booths. We always need people to staff our tents so please consider volunteering for the race in October. Support your Zeta sisters and thousands of breast cancer survivors at this year's race. If you are interested in Volunteering, Running/Walking, or sponsoring someone at this year's race, contact Robin Volden at robinvolden@yahoo.com or 303-306-7181 or Lora Cottrell at 303-655-0520. The race has three main goals: celebrate life, increasing awareness and raising funds. The funds are used for research, education and providing services to those who cannot afford them. Please consider making a pledge or donation this year. |

| Zeta Tau Alpha’s National Philanthropy - THINK PINK®
Breast Cancer Education and Awareness ZTA is devoted to aid in efforts in the fight against breast cancer through education, awareness, research and by promoting breast health. ZTA supports the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation with a donation each year. More than $1.6 million has been donated to the Komen foundation since 1992. In addition to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Komen Race for the Cure and the National Series Breast Cancer Survivor Recognition Program, ZTA also supports the fight against breast cancer through its own education and awareness programs. The “Think Pink” campaign is now ZTA’s primary project for breast cancer awareness. While this program is typically implemented in October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our chapter promotes “Think Pink” throughout the year. We pass out information cards conveying the message of early detection through breast self-examination, clinical examinations and screening mammography. Also, we pass out the “One in Eight” stickers, which give additional information about early detection. |

| YOPLAIT YOGURT LIDS - We collect the pink lids at every monthly meeting in the fall. Our Service Chairman, Cindy Figenbaum, submits them so they are credited to Zeta Tau Alpha. Yoplait contributes up to $15,000 to the ZTA Foundation based on the amount of lids we collect. Cindy would like to receive your lids by December 1. If possible, put collection boxes in your office, health club, beauty salon, etc. You can reach Cindy at 303.985.0250. |

| ZTA and RE/MAX provide the pink survivor caps and T-shirts as emblems of hope and inspiration to breast cancer survivors. “In Celebration Of” and “In Memory Of” back signs are provided to all Race participants so they might honor someone they know affected by the disease. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
